Artist Books are an art form that combines every step of the book making process to create a unique hand made book format. This gallery features my current production of the classic Coptic Stitch Journal. It is an historic form of hand book binding dating back to ancient times. The paste paper painting process originates in the middle ages where it was used for medieval book binding, illuminated manuscripts and working journals.

My books bring together my love of paper, my enjoyment of colorful pattern painting, and the construction process that includes complex stitching. I use my handmade journals as commonplace books for recording travel details, or sketches and collages, as well as for recording notes for teaching, inspirational poetry, and events of importance in my artistic life. Some of the handmade books I produce become visual sketch books for Collage-a-Day practice. Others serve as travel journals for my soul expanding experiences on a special trip or pilgrimage.
